“Ko te ara pūoro, he ihi reo, he wehi oro, he wana ora.” – The path of music carries a powerful voice, sounds that inspire wonder, and vibrant life.
We are pleased to welcome Jo’el Komene for a have-a-go session. A carver, musician, and educator with whakapapa to Ngāpuhi, Tapuika, and Tainui, he will share his experience and connection to taonga pūoro.
Working with traditional Māori instruments that he both carves and plays, Jo’el offers an opportunity to hear their unique sounds and learn about them in practice.
Part of the Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga Library Matariki Whānau Day.
