Join us for a special Matariki edition of TLBM - a vibrant day market that brings together community, culture, and creativity in celebration of the Māori New Year.
This unique event weaves the values of Matariki throughout the day, creating space for remembrance, connection, and new beginnings. Alongside our curated lineup of local stallholders, visitors can take part in a range of meaningful, hands-on activities designed for all ages.
Learn traditional skills through our weaving workshop, led by Māori facilitators sharing their knowledge and stories, or create your own poi while exploring its cultural significance. Tamariki and whānau can enjoy a dedicated art and craft free-play space, encouraging creativity and connection in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
At the heart of the event is a quiet, reflective “Letters to Those Who Have Passed” space, offering an opportunity to honour loved ones and embrace the remembrance aspect of Matariki. Throughout the day, live music will create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, bringing people together in celebration.
