About The Event

Des Heke, an environmental advocate in Tauranga, specialises in preserving local ecosystems, notably the migration patterns of species like the tuna (eel). He will be sharing his mātauranga (traditional Māori knowledge) in blending ancient wisdom with modern environmental science for sustainable management of Te Awanui the harbour within Tauranga Moana.  Tangaroa ki uta, Tangaroa ki tai!   This event is part of the Waitī Waitā Wairākei Matariki celebration day.
