Waipuna-a-rangi
Given the significant impact of recent and past weather events on Tairawhiti and Heretaunga, I've created a short 3D vignette that illustrates how Waipuna-a-rangi can be seen as part of that ongoing cycle.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rangituhia Hollis is a digital media and animation artist.
After studying design at the Eastern Institute of Technology in 2000, Hollis went on to study a Bachelor of Visual Arts at Manukau Institute of Technology (2007), a Postgraduate Diploma in Fine Arts (2008) and a Master of Fine Arts at Elam School of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland (2009).
He has since forged a practice that incorporates references to virtual reality, gaming culture and documentary-style home videos, exploring heritage, connection, dislocation and urban Māori experiences in Aotearoa New Zealand’s postcolonial context.
